Love and Passion

Through out the entire series of The Office, there are many examples of love (the emotion of caring for, feeling attched to, and feeling deeply commited to someone(247)) and passion (A secondary emotion consisting of joy and surprise, plus experiences of excitement and attraction for another (247).
The primary example of love and passion in this entire series is the relationship between Jim and Pam. From the very beginning of the series it was made obvious to the audience that they had it bad for eachother. They show many examples of passion from when Jim first told Pam he loved her, when Pam was nearly to tears from happiness when Jim asked her on their first date, when they got engaged and when they found out they were pregnant with both of their children. Their passion and love were not always good. They went through major hard times when Jim is offered his dream job and is away from him family. He felt pressure from his job and from Pam at home with the kids. In the end, because of his strong love for Pam, gave up the job to be with her. Knowing that Jim is very passionate about this job opportunity, Pam realizes that she can't hold the person she loves back from persuing his dream. She surprises Jim, by telling him that she sold their house and they are moving across the country so he can fufill his dream!

Another example of love and passion is between Holly and Michael. Michael originally felt disgust (A feeling of revulsion in reaction to something offensive (249)) toward Holly because she was apart of HR. Michael hates HR with a passion, because he thinks they work for corporate and are there to stop all the fun. He finds out otherwise and falls in love with Holly extrememly quickly. He shows how passionate he is about her throughout much of the series. He holds back his affection for her but he shows Jim and the audience his passion, the audience can tell she is "the one."
Like Jim and Pam, Michael and Holly go through up's and downs. Corporate discovers their relationship  and Holly is transfered eight hours away. Holly, while she is heartbroken, expresses that long distance is not going to work and Michael is persistant that it will. They break up but throughout many seasons of them being apart Michael still expresses that he loves and misses her. He eventually expresses to her, passionatley, that he still loves her and she is surprised and realizes that she still loves him too. Eventually he proposes in the office with candles everywhere (photo), there are so many candles the sprinklers go off. Then they get married and move away!
